In this talk, I would like to introduce classical ideas of calculus of variation. In addition, I study a nonlocal equation induced by a free energy. Due to the Turing instability, a local pattern and wave propagation can be observed. Applying a variational method, we can construct the existence of traveling waves and discuss a related wave interaction problem. This is a joint work with Prof. Chao-Nien Chen, Yung-Sze Choi and Shyuh-yaur Tzeng.
